Calvinism/Arminianism; Covenant/New Covenant/Dispensationalism; Premil/Amil/Postmil.
The lists of these could probably go on and on and on. Why would I begin a new post with these systems of Theology? I’ll tell you why…
I believe in systems. I think they are good. They help us in only a few words let people know where we stand on much of the Scriptures. For example, if I were a pastor of a church and somebody came to visit my church as a prospective church member, they could ask me,”What systems of Theology do you hold to?” I could then share with him in a few words the systems or parts of systems that I agree with.
Some people say stuff like,”You are a man follower! It’s named after John Calvin you MAAAAN follower! What about the issue with some following Paul, Apollos, or Cephas!” Well OK, now hold on there imaginary-person-yelling-at me-on-my-own-BLOG, I’m not following a man. It’s just like when you agree with your pastor when he preaches his view on a certain passage of the Bible. I’m just agreeing with the system that was attributed to Calvin.
The whole reason for this post is not to talk about systems. The true reason behind it is to ask you this, what is the result of your Theology? Does it cause your greatest goal to be to “glorify God and enjoy Him forever”? Does it cause you to witness for Him? Does it cause you to want to please Him in everything?
Trust me, if you want joy do not pursue it in the form of finding your system of Theology. It won’t bring you joy, trust me. Finding out where you stand on every debatable issue will not make you have joy.
Pursue Jesus. Glorify Jesus. Above all, love Jesus.
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”
Amen!!

I agree. Thanks, Brandon!

It’s true… the outcome is certainly an indicator of what the origin of the ’system’ is.
